Twiggy 60's Mod.

Hey bubs,

I havn't posted in a very very very long time. I have been so busy during the holidays. Anyway, I hope everyone's had a great summer. I thought I'd just post up to mark the start of new posts.

On Friday I was feeling really inspired by a couple of magazine's I had been looking through. It seems that the 60's Mod look is back on trend. In a nutshell, Mod was basically a fashion era during the 60's consisting of very bold eye make-up and pale or nude lips and a fresh face. 

This shoot was inspired really heavily by Mod and most importantly, Twiggy. If you don't know who twiggy is, I would look her up immediatley. She is and was a great fashion icon. I tried to replicate the make-up as best I could but I don't really look like her at all. But it was defiantly fun trying. Have a look and give me some feedback if you wish. Bye for now.

Gay Pride Parade- Walk in Amsterdam.

Hey bubs,

So, as you know I am on holiday in Amsterdam untill next week Wednesday. I feel right at home here because the atmosphere is so upbeat. Not only was I born here, but half of my family lives in Holland aswell. Yesterday I went to the Gay Pride Parade. It was amazing, so many rainbows. The weather let us down later though, as I expected it would. It was almost like the city had heard the world was ending because all you could hear was screaming and shouting when the rain began. We all knew it was coming because the sky had turned a nasty grey and everything went dark. It rained full pelt for atleast 5 minutes. And by full pelt I mean, we were nearly blown off the docks. A group of german men behind us, who had obviously drank and awful amount, cheerfully gathered underneath their picnic blanket that they had set down earlier that day. At one point the 60 odd people standing on the deck started singing in the rain. They sang, 'Singing in the Rain'. The storm was quickly over but it was horrific while it lasted.

When we were in Amsterdam (3 hours before the parade) we had a little window shop and then walked through the famous Red Light District.We stopped outside a club because we saw the cutest thing. It was a little dog with a jacket on saying sercurity standing at the doors of the club.

We waited on the deck for around 2 1/2 hours to secure a good veiw of the parade. I sat on a metal railing for about half an hour before my backside was so numb that I could hardly walk. The german group that I was talking about earlier was equipped with party 'nibbles' like sausages and cheese. Along with them were two men in 8 inch platform heels and hotpants. I'm disappointed I didn't get a picture but its probably logical why I didn't.

Stopped off at a cafe for cappucino and a chocolate muffin.

This sweet chinese cook came out of his Wok kitchen and took a seat beside the canal. He was eating noodles and obviously felt the need to share. And so he did- with the swans.

I can honestly say that I have never seen this sort of thing before. You can literally put 2 euro's in the wall slot and open a door and you get a hamburger. Epic right?

Ginger and Vintage Treasure!

Hey bubs,

So basically... I dyed my hair ginger. FINALLY- I've been waiting for the summer holidays to do it because I'm not sure how strict my school is about hair colour. I mean it is natural but.. not for me. If you follow my blog you'll know how much I adore ginger. Its absolutley gorgeous. I have convinced myself that I was supposed to be born ginger with curly hair. Turns out I was born blonde with straight hair. But yeh. I love it. The only bad thing is that it will be gone by the end of summer. However, I do promise you I will get it dyed permenantly when   I am 15. That also reminds me, its close to my birthday (ish). Is it just me or on your birthday, somebody gets ill. It has always happened to me. I don't know why as I'm not a particularly superstitious person yet it always seems so happen. 

Getting onto brighter subjects again. My auntie (who's house I've been staying at for the past week, in Holland) has a treasure trove of vintage clothes and jewlery from the 60's-90's. Its all such funky stuff. As my parents are really not people who keep anything for 'memory's sakes'- my auntie always stores things for them. Which led me to discover a dress which my mum wore in her 20's during the eighties/nineties. Its got a classic sweetheart neckline and comes down to a couple of inches above your ankle. Its sort of a bluey colour with a  floral print on it. You know what, I'll make sure to post a picture of it up soon. I also found a cute knit jumper from the 60's, I'll take a webcam picture of it now.. 

 

It does need a little bit of patching up and fabric softener but apart from that- its wonderful. Also a vintage sort of nightgown? I'm not sure what you call it but its one of those kimono like dresses you see in movies where the lady is sipping marinies while breaking out into song. Also, a really cute floral dress from the 50's. 
There is so much jewlerry but my most favourite is the big anchor clip on earings from the 80's. Very sailor inspired. And an elephant necklace which I'm guessing is from the 90's. I'm really sorry for the discracefully bad pictures below (better ones coming when I charge up my camera).

I have to go now- hairdressers. I very much hope that it doesnt turn out like one of those 80's haystack hair do's.  Bye for now everyone, hope your having a nice summer!

Hairspiration

Hey bubs,

I just wanted to show you some of my hair inspirations. This season the hair on the runways and generally in town is stunning. I wonder how these people do it.? Well, I've been learning and I can't wait to try all of the styles out when my hair is long enough. Theres only a limit of curling, flat ironing, or tiny plaits for short haired people. I cant wait.


GINGER. Oh my, I actually can't get enough of ginger hair. I think its just stunning beyond the laws of the earth. There has been alot of disagreement but all of those people.. take a look around you and spot how many people are as unique and quirky as gingers. Not many huh?

WOW. This is what you call hair. The perfect way to bohemianize an updo.

I bet everyone wishes they could plait like this. I have tried many times, and I have failed many times.

I absolutely adore topknots.
